Softball Recap: Othello Huskies vs. Ephrata Tigers

Othello had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Ephrata Tigers with a sharp 12-5 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Othello, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Amarie Guzman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Guzman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Guzman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Othello got a massive performance out of Emi Pruneda, who went 4-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run. Kaelee Valdez was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

On Ephrata's side, Kaydence Hector made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base.

Othello is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Ephrata, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-6.
