Baseball Recap: Morse Comes Up Short

Morse extended their losing streak to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 3-16. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Jolla Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-2 defeat on Wednesday.

Morse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Killingsworth, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Killingsworth has hit this season.

As for La Jolla, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On La Jolla's side, Zach Gergurich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. Gergurich has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, La Jolla let Carter Strauss and Ryan Kourajian run wild. Strauss went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Kourajian went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Morse will host San Diego at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for La Jolla, they will venture away from home to take on Scripps Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Falcons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
