After a string of five wins, Illini West's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 9-6 to the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish.

Wesley Robertson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Robertson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Illini West's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Bishop McNamara, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Looking ahead, Illini West will take on Astoria/VIT at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Bishop McNamara, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Pleasant Plains at 2:00 p.m. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Fightin' Irish's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
