Recap: Sauquoit Valley Indians vs. Morrisville-Eaton Warriors
On Friday, The Sauquoit Valley Indians faced the Morrisville-Eaton Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sauquoit Valley was dealt a 56-6 loss at the hands of Morrisville-Eaton. Sauquoit Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-0.
Morrisville-Eaton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Highers out in front who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Austin Zaleski, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Sauquoit Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Morrisville-Eaton, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Sauquoit Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Morrisville-Eaton will stay at home for another week and welcome West Canada Valley at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. West Canada Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
