The Edison Eagles will take on the South County Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Edison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Edison is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Hayfield just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 21-8. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Edison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Sable, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Maggie Rowland was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let Falls Church get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Stallions have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Grice looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Wyllie, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Gregory, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

South County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.

South County pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Edison has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .518. However, it's not like South County struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Edison beat South County 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
