Softball Recap: Wakeland Comes Up Short

Wakeland dropped their record down to 21-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Melissa Cardinals, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.

As for Melissa, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 32-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.

For Melissa's part, Eloisa Maes tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Maes has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Kennedy Bradley was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Finlee Williams, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Wakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Melissa, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Midlothian at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cardinals have won 21 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Panthers won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
