Preview: Honey Grove Warriors vs. Tom Bean Tomcats
Honey Grove and Tom Bean are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Honey Grove Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tom Bean Tomcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Honey Grove will stroll in with a 13 game home winning streak (dating back to last season), but they should still watch out: the last time they lost at home was their January 17 matchup with Tom Bean.
On Tuesday, Honey Grove slipped by Sam Rayburn 44-43.
Tom Bean aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Tuesday extended their overall winning streak to three. They came out on top against Wolfe City by a score of 48-36.
Tom Bean found their leader in underclassman Maguire Poole, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Branson Ashlock, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Honey Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. As for Tom Bean, their win bumped their record up to 23-11.
Everything went Honey Grove's way against Tom Bean in their previous meeting back in January as Honey Grove made off with a 63-41 win. Will Honey Grove repeat their success, or does Tom Bean have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
