Basketball Game Preview: Redmond Mustangs vs. Skyline Spartans

The Redmond Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Skyline Spartans at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Redmond knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Skyline likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Redmond got the win against Hazen by a conclusive 65-40. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Redmond relied on the efforts of Iha Kasam, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards, and Sofia Locati, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Kasam's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Natalie West, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Skyline against Renton on Friday as the squad secured a 60-26 win. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Skyline has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Redmond, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Redmond was able to grind out a solid win over Skyline when the teams last played back in January, winning 55-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Redmond since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
