Baseball Recap: Albany Cougars vs. Head-Royce Jayhawks
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Albany ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Head-Royce Jayhawks 8-7. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.
Albany got a great performance from Jude Hatamiya as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hatamiya has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Preston McGowen, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Richards, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
