Soccer Game Preview: Eagle vs. Mountain View

The Eagle Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Mountain View Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Eagle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Timberline, who was ranked first at the time (Eagle was ranked eighth). The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wolves on Monday. That makes it the first time this season Eagle have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Mountain View made sure to put some goals up on the board against Bishop Kelly on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Knights. Considering Mountain View have won five games by more than two goals this season, another big win was nothing new.

Wins have been accumulating steadily for Mountain View, who have claimed victory in eight of their first 10 contests to sit at 8-2. The wins were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those 10 matches. As for Eagle, they are now 5-3, having gone 1-2 since their three-game winning streak ended.
