Southern Lab takes loss despite strong efforts from Cameron Hardnett and Bryson Chapman

Recap: Southern Lab Kittens vs. Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers

The Southern Lab Kittens fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 74-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (56), Southern Lab still had to take the loss.

Bryson Chapman and Cameron Hardnett certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Chapman scored 26 points, while Hardnett scored 24 points. Hardnett scored a full 34.8% of Southern Lab's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Troy Murphy was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Woodlawn-B.R. got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Myron Nelson out in front who scored 18 points. The contest was Nelson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelinee Stone, who scored 16 points.

Southern Lab has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Woodlawn-B.R., they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Southern Lab and John Ehret will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. John Ehret is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Woodlawn-B.R. won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McKinley at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (McKinley is ranked 77th, while Woodlawn-B.R. is ranked 100th).
