Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cape Hatteras, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over the Hobgood Charter Raiders on Tuesday. For the Hurricanes, this counts as revenge for the 77-44 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Ty Stephens went supernova for Cape Hatteras, going 10 of 15 en route to 22 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Trae Wyatt, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds.

Cape Hatteras' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Hobgood Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Cape Hatteras will head out to take on Bear Grass Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hobgood Charter has already played their next game (against Ocracoke), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
