Baseball Game Preview: Beal City Aggies vs. Cass City Red Hawks

The Beal City Aggies will face off against the Cass City Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Beal City came up short against Shepherd on Monday, falling 8-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cass City). They blew past Vassar 15-2 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Hawks, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Garrett Reinke and Jackson Anthony were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Reinke pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Anthony tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Reinke scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Anthony scored two runs and stole two bases. Anthony has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Mason Brown was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Mellendorf, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Cass City pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Beal City, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3.
