Softball Recap: Cardinal Stritch Starts Season with Loss at Home

Cardinal Stritch unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks on Saturday, falling 22-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Crimson Streaks: they've now lost four in a row.

Cardinal Stritch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Zgurich, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory got St. Joseph Central Catholic back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Stritch will take on Danbury at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Danbury's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cardinal Stritch's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they will face off against Huron at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
