Baseball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Hope Blue Wave

Woonsocket has won three straight games at home, while Hope has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Villa Novans will host the Blue Wave at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, Woonsocket got the win against Mt. Pleasant by a conclusive 11-1. That's two games straight that the Villa Novans have won by exactly ten runs.

Braylon Guilbeault made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

In other batting news, CJ Bousquet was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Cesar Vazquez Jr. was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Hope won against Davies Career & Tech on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Blue Wave's way against Paul Cuffee as they made off with an 11-5 victory. The Blue Wave haven't had any issues with Paul Cuffee recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Hope's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Woonsocket, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.

Woonsocket took their victory against Hope when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Villa Novans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Wave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
