Basketball Recap: Western Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Western has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Lafayette Red Devils. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 45-30 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Western lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eli Mast, who posted 11 points. Brycen Rucker was another key player, putting up eight points.

Western's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-4. As for West Lafayette, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will square off against Lafayette Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for West Lafayette, they will take on Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harrison has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 213 points over their last three matchups.
