Basketball Recap: Stargate School's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Stargate School came into Wednesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past the Dawson School Mustangs with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 44-25. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 31-20 loss the last time these two teams met.

Stargate School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sloan Kunz led the charge by going 6 of 11 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Ridgell, who posted seven points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Dawson School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Sullivan, who put up 14 points. That was a full 56% of Dawson School's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Stargate School's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Dawson School, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Stargate School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 33-21 win against Estes Park on the 13th. As for Dawson School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-19 defeat against Liberty Common on the 17th.
