Softball Recap: Prairie du Chien Takes a Loss

Prairie du Chien suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lancaster Flying Arrows by a score of 6-4. The game marked the Blackhawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Claire Kennedy was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Camryn Knapp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Rita Achenbach, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Prairie du Chien's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Lancaster, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Prairie du Chien will square off against Richland Center at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lancaster, they will take on Dodgeville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dodgers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Flying Arrows surely won't give up without a fight.
