Softball Recap: Dodgeville's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

While Dodgeville's victory against Richland Center wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dodgers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hornets 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Dodgers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Ava Lord was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Lord was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brienna Wasley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Dougherty was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Dodgeville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Richland Center, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Dodgeville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-1 defeat against Brodhead on the 28th. As for Richland Center, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Mauston on the 25th.
