Rocky Mount Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They breezed past the Halifax Academy Vikings to the tune of 59-27. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.

Rocky Mount Academy can attribute much of their success to Jalen Pearce, who posted 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those six boards gave Pearce a new career-high. Holden Haggerty was another key player, putting up 11 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Rocky Mount Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Halifax Academy only racked up nine.

Despite the loss, Halifax Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Luke Corum had ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Crew, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Coming up, Rocky Mount Academy will face off against Wilson Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Halifax Academy, they will challenge Southampton Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
