Soccer Game Preview: South vs. Redondo Union

The South Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Redondo Union Sea Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. South's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

South fell victim to Mira Costa and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Mustangs are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Redondo Union kept a clean sheet against El Segundo on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Sea Hawks were the better team in the second half.

Sebastian Lamb and Owen Hancock scored both of Redondo Union's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Redondo Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-2 record this season.

South suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Redondo Union when the teams last played on January 7th. Can South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
