Auburn had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the James River Knights by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Auburn's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while James River are ranked 246th).

Auburn pushed their record up to 10-3-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three games. As for James River, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will square off against Fort Chiswell at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Fort Chiswell's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for James River, they will face off against Radford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
