TORIAN SHORTY of Lutcher ran for the longest rushing play in 4A District 6 this season against St. Michael last week. SHORTY scampered for 60 yards on the play and finished with 103 on the day as his team bested the Warriors.
Lutcher extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Michael, 25-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
The Bulldogs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. RUSTON MATHERNE threw for 173 and one touchdown and DEAMPHRANY DAVIS had 38 yards receiving. On the ground MATHERNE chipped in 115 yards. SULLY MARTIN helped Lutcher's passing attack out by catching two balls for 32 yards.
Lutcher's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. MATHERNE has thrown for 1134 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while MARTIN has 21 catches for 298 yards. MATHERNE also leads the league in rushing with 415 yards.
A big matchup in 4A District 6 this week will be when Eric Held's team takes on Plaquemine. The Warriors are in second place, while the Devils are in third place.
Tara was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Trojans defeated the Trojans 21-6.
