Believe it or not, it's time to begin crowning state champions in high school football as Soldotna goes for six in a row in Alaska.

Perennial Nevada powerhouse carries streak nearing a decade of dominance.

Soldotna sits on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska and is known as a prime fishing destination.

With a population of around 4,000, it might also be on the verge of becoming known for high school football.

The Stars (9-0) go for their sixth straight state title in a row Saturday night when they face Palmer (5-4) for the Division II crown. A victory would tie Soldotna for the third longest state-title run in the country, tying it with Lamar (Mo.).

The leader of the pack when it comes to consecutive state titles is perennial national power Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) with eight straight crowns. See the video above for more on high school football's premier state championship dynasties.
