Softball Game Preview: Berkley Bears vs. Ferndale Eagles

Berkley is a perfect 6-0 against Ferndale since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Berkley is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Farmington hit Berkley with a eight-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears came up short against the Falcons, falling 14-2.

Meryl O'Donnell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Alyse Muscat was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Ferndale came into Wednesday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Avondale with a sharp 18-3 win on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Berkley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Ferndale, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Everything went Berkley's way against Ferndale in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Berkley made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
