Preview: Randolph Cardinals vs. Falconer Golden Falcons
The Randolph Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Falconer Golden Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Randolph has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Randolph put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cassadaga Valley 83-44 at home. Given Randolph's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Cassadaga Valley is ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randolph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Skylar Herington, who scored 24 points. Herington has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Quinn Pence was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-33, which was the final score in Falconer's tilt against Frewsburg on Tuesday. Falconer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.
Randolph's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Falconer, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Randolph beat Falconer 61-50 when the teams last played back in March of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Randolph since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
