Baseball Recap: South Decatur Takes a Loss

South Decatur fell victim to Hauser and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jets. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Corey Nugent spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Hauser, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

While South Decatur had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
