Football Recap: West Central Piles Up the Points Against Lake Station Edison

West Central extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They blew past the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles 54-14. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

West Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teagen Holle, who rushed for 86 yards and four TDs on only seven carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Drea Villarreal was another major influence, as he rushed for 104 yards and ran in a TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 277 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Station Edison fell to 3-1. They have struggled against West Central recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Lake Station Edison still got an impressive performance from David Parker, who rushed for 67 yards on only seven carries, and also threw for 22 yards and one touchdown. Parker also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Oscar Alderson got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Central will challenge North Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Station Edison, they will venture away from home to take on Whiting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Oilers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
