Basketball Recap: Overton Skates Past Memphis Central with Ease

Overton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 75-39 victory over the Memphis Central Warriors. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.

Overton found their leader in freshman Dallas McElroy, who went 9-for-18 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and five steals. McElroy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Harris, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 12 points and four steals.

Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Overton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Memphis Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
