Basketball Recap: Halls Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Halls Red Devils lost to the Pickett County Bobcats on the road by a 78-63 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

It was another big night for Jacob Amonett, who went 8 of 13 en route to 31 points and six assists for Pickett County. That's the most points Amonett has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Cobb, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Halls has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Pickett County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Halls will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Pickett County and Midway will round out the year against one another at at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Pickett County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season.
