Softball Recap: Central Noble Falls Short of Rossville in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Central Noble can now relate to. They fell just short of the Rossville Hornets by a score of 6-5 on Saturday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Grace Swank put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Swank wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Deter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Central Noble's defeat dropped their record down to 24-6. As for Rossville, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-5.

As of now, neither Central Noble nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
