El Dorado hasn't had much luck against Sonora recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 2:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Dorado 2.5, Sonora 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
El Dorado blew Villa Park out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Villa Park got their revenge. The Golden Hawks fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Golden Hawks have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Kayla Davenport was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Sonora narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Villa Park 7-6.
Anela Quinones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Quinones was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brooke Piwowar was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Pantages, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
This is the second loss in a row for El Dorado and nudges their season record down to 13-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Sonora, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Dorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Sonora struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
