The Schurr Spartans will head out to take on the Cornerstone Christian Crusaders at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Schurr got the win against San Jacinto by a conclusive 11-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Logan Trevino was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Schurr is 6-2 when Trevino allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Trevino was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Lu, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Joseph Tapia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Schurr always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jacinto only posted an OBP of .324.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian entered their tilt with Perris last Monday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 17-0 shutout.
Like Schurr, Cornerstone Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Steel Hoham. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hoham has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Alec O'Sullivan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Lucas Gomez-Creguer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of David Meinardus, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Cornerstone Christian's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Schurr, their record now sits at 13-15.
