Basketball Recap: Kofa Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Kofa had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Westwood Warriors by a score of 60-47. For the Kings, this counts as revenge for the 54-51 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Kofa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Montoya out in front who shot 70% from the field on his way to 21 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Devin Diaz, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Kofa will square off against La Joya Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
