Football Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were outmatched by the Del Valle Conquistadores and fell 73-0. While losing is never fun, the Silver Foxes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1106th, while the Conquistadores are ranked 192nd).

As for Del Valle, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.6 points this season.

Jake Fette had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 208 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. What's more, he racked up 139.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dante Eytcheson, who rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to face off against their familiar foe El Paso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Del Valle will take on rival Chapin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 989 yards in their previous games.
