Softball Recap: Montrose Has No Trouble Against Forest City

Montrose won against Lakeland last Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Meteors put the hurt on the Forest City Foresters with a sharp 10-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Meteors in their matchups with the Foresters: they've now won three in a row.

Jocelyn Traver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Montrose let Cara Evans and MycKenna Kublo run wild. Evans scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Kublo scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Kublo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Rori Gurn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Montrose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Montrose's win bumped their record up to 2-3.
