Recap: Fike Demons vs. South Johnston Trojans
The Fike Demons won the last time they faced the South Johnston Trojans, and things went their way on Friday too. Fike came out on top against South Johnston by a score of 48-39. Given Fike's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while South Johnston is ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jewel Brewington, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Fike's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Skinner, who scored 12 points.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lannah Price, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Crumpler, who scored eight points.
Fike has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for South Johnston, they bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing C.B. Aycock the next time they take the court. South Johnston will host C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Fike will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
