Volleyball Recap: Sikeston Comes Up Short

Sikeston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-13, 25-12.

Aubreigh Landers paced Sikeston's offense, picking up five kills. Landers got some help from Lexton Hammontree and her ten assists. Bailey Null controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Sikeston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Saxony Lutheran, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Saxony Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Leopold on the 12th. Hopefully Sikeston paid attention to the Crusaders' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Crusaders at 5:20 p.m. on Friday.
