Baseball Game Preview: Gladewater Bears vs. West Rusk Raiders

For the first time this season, Gladewater will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will welcome the West Rusk Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Gladewater: 2.2, West Rusk: 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West Rusk will be up against a hot Gladewater team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Gladewater put the hurt on Frankston with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. Considering the Bears have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gladewater got a big performance out of Preston Bohanon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Bohanon's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubry Floyd, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, West Rusk came out on top against Tyler on Saturday by a score of 7-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Troy Hunley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Cole Jackson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Gladewater's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Rusk, their win bumped their record up to 3-4-1.

Gladewater might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from West Rusk when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Gladewater avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
