Softball Preview: McHenry Warriors vs. Huntley Red Raiders

McHenry is 1-9 against Huntley since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McHenry Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Huntley Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McHenry comes in on three and Huntley on eight.

McHenry is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Friday, just like they did against Jacobs (and have done all season long). McHenry blew past Jacobs 11-0.

The team relied heavily on Maddie Gillund, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Chloe Clark was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Huntley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Dundee-Crown on Wednesday.

Makayla Rasumussen looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Bonner was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrina Adamik, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

McHenry's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Huntley, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. McHenry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
