Bay Port took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Pulaski Red Raiders. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered an 18-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
Estelle Finlan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Plumley, who scored a run and stole three bases.
Looking ahead, Bay Port will welcome Peshtigo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pulaski, they will square off against Wausau East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
