Basketball Game Preview: Loranger Wolves vs. Mandeville Skippers

The Loranger Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Mandeville Skippers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

In Wednesday's Canine Competition, Loranger prevailed. They blew past Springfield 48-28 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mandeville humbled Covington with a 61-21 victory. Given the Skippers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Lions are ranked 228th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loranger better keep an eye on Alanna Benoit. She was instrumental in Mandeville's win, going 9 of 11 en route to 20 points along with six assists and six boards. Benoit's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Carpenter, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Mandeville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Loranger, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Loranger was taken down by Mandeville 57-15 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Loranger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
