Basketball Recap: Western Falls Short of Somerset Academy Losee in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Western can now relate to. They lost to the Somerset Academy Losee Lions at home by a 47-33 margin on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Lwaba, who posted 12 points. That was a full 36.4% of Western's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Lyris Davis was another key player, putting up nine points.

Jayla Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Somerset Academy Losee, going 8-for-18 on her way to 28 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was ZaRyah Snell, who scored six points and eight boards.

Western's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Somerset Academy Losee, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Western does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somerset Academy Losee, they will face off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Foothill will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Somerset Academy Losee surely won't give up without a fight.
