Recap: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Gibbs Gladiators
The St. Petersburg Green Devils lost against the Gibbs Gladiators back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. St. Petersburg suffered a tough 57-33 loss at the hands of Gibbs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Petersburg in their matchups with Gibbs: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, St. Petersburg saw an underclassman step up: Quay Curry scored 17 points. The match was Curry's third in a row with at least ten points. Kennedy Curro was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Gibbs was led to victory by Zacoya Grant and Peyton Flournoy. Grant scored 16 points, while Flournoy scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaya Berry, who scored six points.
St. Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Gibbs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
St. Petersburg will head out on the road to face off against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gibbs will be home for the holidays to greet Academy of the Holy Names at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Academy of the Holy Names focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
