Football Recap: Horizon Starts Season with Win Against Olympia + How To Watch

Horizon had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Olympia Titans 20-17. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 14-0 win the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kaio Oliveira and Markese Tatum. Oliveira rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown while Tatum rushed for 33 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Oliveira has posted since back in September of 2024.

Horizon's run defense was locked in: Olympia could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Holden Kubitz for the heroic effort on defense: he. Horizon's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Horizon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mark Muroki and Trace Kulczar. Kulczar has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
