Baseball Recap: Woodsboro Wins Going Away Against Skidmore-Tynan

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Port Aransas, Woodsboro was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats as they made off with a 15-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Cole Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cole Spalek was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Woodsboro is 2-1 when Spalek posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Jordan Vega was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Woodsboro's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Skidmore-Tynan, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Woodsboro will take on rival Kenedy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Skidmore-Tynan is set to challenge their familiar foe Refugio at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
