Softball Recap: Northwest Rankin's Loss Ends 23-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Northwest Rankin fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sumrall on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-8 to the Bobcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 2.04 runs allowed.

Payton Hayes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooke Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Northwest Rankin's defeat ended a 23-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 23-4. As for Sumrall, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-5.

Looking ahead, Northwest Rankin will be playing in front of their home fans against West Lauderdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumrall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
