Baseball Recap: Tomball Kings Comes Up Short

Tomball Kings fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Fort Bend Christian Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7. The loss continues a trend for the Homeschool in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Mikey Sharp was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avery Bell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Tomball Kings: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-12-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Wilkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Tomball Kings' defeat dropped their record down to 15-14-1. As for Fort Bend Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, Tomball Kings will head out to take on Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Bend Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Lutheran South Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th.
