Baseball Recap: Jennings County Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jennings County walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Lawrenceburg Tigers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 19th.

Cooper Lane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Jennings County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 7-14 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Speer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Jennings County is undefeated when Speer posts three or more hits, but 8-14 otherwise.

Jennings County's victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Lawrenceburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.

As of now, neither Jennings County nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
