Basketball Game Preview: Taylor Yellowjackets vs. Deer Park Wildcats

Taylor and Deer Park are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Taylor Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Deer Park Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Taylor's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Deer Park has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Taylor will bounce into Friday's match after beating Harrison, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Taylor strolled past Harrison with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-42. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Deer Park came up short against Madeira on Friday and fell 72-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Deer Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Taylor, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Taylor beat Deer Park 51-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Will Taylor repeat their success, or does Deer Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
